Tell Mayor and Council: NO TPD collaboration with ICE!
In study session on January 21 Mayor and Council discussed prohibiting the use of city property for immigration enforcement. Mayor and Council directed city staff to craft the required ordinance that would “prohibit the use of City-owned or City controlled property for staging, processing, debriefing, or other civil immigration enforcement operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, US Customs and Border protections, or any other non-city use without explicit permission except as required by law.” SUPPORT THIS ORDINANCE
However, it doesn’t go far enough to protect our neighbors if ICE can assault peaceful protesters and call on TPD for assistance and collaboration while they are being held accountable for their harassment of our communities. Mayor and Council should go further by directing TPD to protect peaceful protesters against assault by federal officers and uphold our local ordinances even when it comes to federal civil enforcement.
Stop TPD’s use of Cobwebs for surveillance
In October 2025, Arizona Mirror revealed that Tucson Police Department has a contract with Cobwebs Technologies for its “Tangles Open-Source Intelligence” AI surveillance software. TPD has shared some of that data with federal agencies.
– Mayor and Council MUST direct TPD to stop using surveillance tools that feed corporate databases accessible by federal agencies.
– Mayor and Council must also end all surveillance contracts due to violations of privacy and working with ICE and federal immigration enforcement agencies.
